Brooke Umland begins her first year as Head Coach of the Wadena-Deer Creek softball team with a roster of players who gained valuable varsity experience as a young team a year ago when they finished with an overall record of 9-11. Umland will be assisted by Keith Ferris and Kyle Petermeier.
“We had a young team last year, which is incredibly beneficial this season,” said Coach Umland. “We are returning nearly all of our starters, so we are really excited about that.”
Returning starters include seniors Madelyn Gallant (OF), Mercedes Schulz (C/3B), Haylee Dickey (OF), Hailey Kircher (OF) and Ella Stroeing (OF), sophomores Jenna Dykhoff (P/1B), Montana Carsten (P/SS) and Addison Carr (2B), and freshman Jada Dykhoff (C/SS).
Juniors Lola Pulver (IF/OF) and Macie Moore (OF), and freshmen Ashley Pavek (IF) and Isabella Lehmkuhl (C/OF) will provide depth for the Wolverines.
