A four run first inning carried the St. Johns University JV team to a 5-1 win over the M State Spartans baseball team on Monday in Collegeville.  “I thought we played really well after the first inning and had the bases loaded in top of the 7th but just couldn't get the hit we needed,” reported Spartan Head Coach Grant Harding

Ben Monson hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to account for the lone M State run.  Beau Fetting continued his hot spring, collecting two hits in four at bats.  Logan Pulju and Caleb Jablonsky each contributed a single.

Luke Rutter (4IP, 8H, 5R, 4ER, 2BB, 1K) settled down after the first inning, but was saddled with the loss.  Jablonsky (2IP, 2H, 2BB) finished up in relief.

M State is scheduled to host Alexandria in a double header on Wednesday.
