Robert Bosma begins his eighth season as a track and field coach for Ashby/Brandon-Evansville and Adam Wagner is in his fourth year.  This spring, that coaching duo will serve as co-head coaches for ABE.  Shellee Hansen (11 years) and Dan Johnson (1st year) will fill assistant coaching positions.

Ashby-Brandon-Evansville has 16 boys and 15 girls returning with previous varsity experience.

Returning for the boys are seniors Nathan Anderson, Derk Goeden and Spencer Olson, juniors Micah Fossell, Logan Haburn and Cohen Reiland, sophomores August Bredberg, Micah Fuller, Darius Grossing, Justin Ledermann and Donnel Lee, freshmen Will Englund, Kaleb Fuglseth, Jacob Sorenson and Kenneth Spielman, and eighth-grader Benjamin Myron.

The girls return juniors Skylar Bitzan, Naomi Fournier, Kiatta Korkowski, Ashley Paulson, Josephine Walberg and Lucea Wales, sophomores Courtney Brethorst, Vy Bui, Taylor Dingwall, Addi Olson and Kaitlyn Evjen, freshmen Mary Fossell and Natalie Reque, and eighth-graders Sarena Fournier and Hope Rovang.
Newcomers to the varsity include junior Stephen Hamilton, junior Alessio Schott (exchange student from Germany) and sophomore Logan Haseman.

With 22 junior high student-athletes participating in the program, the coaches expect that several of them will also be seeing varsity action as the season progresses.

"Despite being a young team, we feel we have strong leadership from our student-athletes," said Coaches Bosma and Wagner.  "We want to build on last year's section and state meet.  We want our younger athletes to gain confidence throughout the season.  We also want to improve our ability to fill and compete well in field events.  Our team focus has been excellent through the first part of the season and we feel that is directly attributed to our student-athletes holding each other accountable and working together."

Bosma and Wagner feel that Border West will be the strongest team in the conference, with the Rothsay sprinters also being a tough group to contend with.  When it comes to sub-section and section competition they expect Perham, OTC, Osakis, Pelican Rapids and West Central Area to all be in the mix.

"We expect we will do OUR best.  Everyone isn't capable of sprinting fast, running fast, jumping far or high, throwing far, etc., but we expect each individual to do OUR best, coaches included.  We also expect everyone in the program to make the most of our Attitude, Behavior, and Effort.  We want to consistently improve throughout the season and peak in the postseason."
