Cory Bedel begins his first year as Head Coach of the Hancock Baseball team, looking to improve on a 4-10 season of a year ago.  The Owls will need to replace Brayden DeSmith, Dallas Walton, Sebastian Felix and Zachary Carter, who have all graduated, but the cupboard is far from bare heading into the 2023 season.

“We feel we have our main core pitchers back,” said Coach Bedel.  “We have a lot of speed we can utilize on the bases and in the field.  We have a great group of guys overall that will be fun to coach.  We need to replace some key infielders we lost to graduation.”

Returning letter winners include seniors Davin Rose (P/SS) and Dain Schroeder (P/C/SS/2B), juniors Hudson VerSteeg (P/1B) and Donovan Curfman (CF/P/2B), and sophomore Chase Evink (P/3B).

Senior Jackson Koehl (OF), juniors Eli Rinkenberger (OF), Matt Aslagson (OF) and Ralphy Algarate (OF), and sophomores Sebastian Sales (3B/P) and Bradley Klucas (C) will also be in the varsity mix.

Bedel will be assisted by Taylor Holleman and Adam Shaw at the varsity level, with Sam Olson working with the Junior High.

Bedel sees KMS, BBE and New York Mills as the top teams in Section 6A, with Border West and Brandon-Evansville the teams to beat in the  Conference.
