The 2022 baseball season ended for DGF in the semifinal round of the Section 8AA Tournament when they lost 1-0 to Perham. That loss put their final record at 18-8. The Rebels were second in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a mark of 8-4. DGF lost 4 players to graduation, including Kayden Camacho, who is now playing at Bismarck State, McKale Pierson, who is playing football at MUSM, Kaden Altobelli and Isaac Nelson.
“We have a lot of returning players this season, but will be missing our pitching leader, Kayden Camacho,” acknowledged Head Coach Bill Ibach, now in his fifteenth season. “We should have a lot of depth at all positions and plenty of varsity experience. We are hoping this experience will translate to competing for a conference crown and a deep run at Sections again.”
Returning letter winners are seniors Carsen Berreth (C), Kolton Wagner (C), Grant Anderson (1B/P), Jordan Summers (IF), Aiden Wardien (IF/OF) and Owen Hoover (IF/OF), juniors Landon Johnson (SS/P), Peyton Aas (IF/P), Austin Anderson (OF/P), Brody O’Keefe (1B/C/P) and Nick Waale (IF/P).
Also seeking varsity playing time are juniors Adam Moe (OF/P), Jack Haugen (IF), Ethan Clemenson (1B/P) and Carson Sorenson (OF/P), and sophomores Alex Anderson (OF/P), Cayson Bergee (IF/P), Dylan Anderson (IF/C/P), Wes Hoover (C) and Camden Schreiber (IF/P).
“Perham is always the team to beat for everyone in the HOL,” noted Ibach. “Many of the teams were young last year, so I look for everyone to be better this year. Our conference is a good one and playing competitive games is a given.”
Ibach will be assisted by Brant Mickelson.
