Jacob Box begins his second year as Head Baseball Coach at Pillager High School with optimism about the improvement his team can make from a season ago when they finished with a 5-16 record.  Box is assisted by Grant Rindal and Andy Petersen.  The Huskies compete in Section 6AA and are members of the Park Region Conference.

“We return eight players that played valuable innings last season and a handful more that got varsity experience,” noted Coach Box.  “We look to build off of last year’s record and continue to improve each day.  With one senior, we will look to our underclassmen to help lead the way again this season.”

Returning starters include juniors Eli Miller (P/OF), TJ Swanberg (OF) and Conner Hanson (OF/P), sophomores Kaden Imdieke (C/P), Derek Hoglin (P/OF/IF), Owen Benson (P/1B) and Cowen Cremers (IF), and freshman Alex Brandt (IF/P).  Team captains will be Hanson, Swanberg and Imdieke.

Sophomores Christian Hooge (P/IF) and Skyler Hill (OF) will also be in the varsity mix.

“We look forward to competing in the always tough Park Region Conference, where New York Mills, Wadena-Deer Creek, and Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale all went to state last season,” concluded Coach Box.

Box says the Eagles and Wolverines are his top picks in the PRC, with Albany and Pierz being the favorites in Section 6AA.
