Senior Sam Senske made a Class A State appearance in the high jump last spring for the United Clay Becker Boys’ Track and Field team.  Senske returns, along with Section place winners in five other events, making for some high expectations from second year Head Coach Jon Hinrichs.

“I’m really excited about the group of kids we have to work with this spring,” said Hinrichs.  “They have had great energy so far and really are showing some promise athletically to go along with their good attitudes.  You can get so much out of track and field besides running faster and throwing farther, and we look forward to the students gaining some of those life lessons along with the technique things we teach throughout the season.”

Other returning seniors on the squad are Bradley Olson (Jumps/Springs), Seth Torgerson (Mid-Distance), Taylor Johnson (Distance), Tyler Jacobson (Throws), John Vetter (Throws) and Derek Tibbetts (Jumps/Sprints).  Rounding out the returning letter winners on the roster are juniors Landon Bakke (Mid-Distance) and Davaun Stock (Sprints), sophomores Gunnar Fleming (Mid-Distance), Bridger Larson (Distance), Thor Erickson (Distance), Jack Ames (Sprints) and Levi Lelm (Sprints), and freshman Leif Shervey (Sprints).

Senior Benjamin Geeslin (Distance), junior Tyler Geray (Throws) and sophomore Drake Dagenais (Distance) are newcomers who will also be in the mix for UCB.

Joe Conrad (Head Coach), Dylan Olson (Assistant Coach) and Zion Smith (Assistant Coach) round out the coaching staff.

Hinrichs sees DGF and Park Rapids as the top teams in Section 8A, with Perham and DGF the favorites in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.
