M State Finishes Six-Day Florida trip with Pair of Wins and 4-4 Record

The M State baseball team wrapped up their Orlando, Florida trip with a 5-2 win over Columbia Greene College on Tuesday morning and then won a 15-11 slugfest with Holyoke Community College. 

In the first game, the Spartans tallied three runs in the fifth inning against Columbia Greene to increase their lead to 5-1, with Mike Short and Ben Monson driving in runs.  Five different Spartans stole six bases in the game, led by Short with two.  Beau Fetting walked twice and scored a pair of runs.  Bret Engelmeyer (7IP, 2R, 5H, 5K 1BB) was the winning pitcher.

M State scored 6 runs in the top of the ninth inning against Holyoke, overcoming an 11-9 deficit to come back and win the game.  M State had 10 hits, drew 11 walks and capitalized on 5 Holyoke errors which led to 4 unearned runs.

Beau Fetting had a big day at the plate as he delivered 2 doubles in 4 at bats, drove in one run, scored 3 times and walked twice.  Logan Pulju had two runs batted in and drew 4 walks.  Luke Rutter (2-6, RBI, BB, 3R, SB), Eoghan Fischer (3-5, 3RBI, 2R) and Jackson Martin (1-4, 2RBI, 2R) also contributed to the offensive effort.  Adam Vue was 1-for-1 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in.

Nicholas Kreuzer (2-5, 2B, 3RBI, R), Collin Kennedy (2-4, 3B, 2R), Anthony Rosado-Burgos (1-4, 2R) and Luis DeJesus Jr. (1-5, 2B, RBI R) led Holyoke.

M State finished their 6-day trip with a 4-4 record.
