Spartans Split Baseball Double Header on Friday in Florida

On Friday, the Spartan baseball team recorded their first win of the Florida trip, winning a 10-9 slugfest over Marian University Ancilla College.   They wound up splitting a double header with an 11-1 loss in the nightcap.

In the first game Beau Fetting drove in 3 runs, including one on a first inning solo home run.  Ben Monson scored 3 times, Bryce Kruger and Eoghan Fischer each had 2 hits.  Kruger, Jackson Martin, Adam Vue and Logan Pulju each picked up a RBI.

M State built a five run lead in the third then held on as Ancilla cut the lead to one run with a 4-run seventh inning.  Each team had 10 hits.  Bret Englemeyer (5IP, 8H, 5R, 3ER, 2BB, 6K) was the winning pitcher.

In their second game Friday the Spartans lost to Marian University Ancilla Chargers 11-1.  Pulju hit a solo homer in the sixth and went 2-for-2 at the plate. 

The Chargers played errorless ball.  They were led at the plate by Mateo Lindia (2-3, 2B, 5RBI, 2R) and Josh Ledgard (1-2, 2RBI, 2R).  James Riddle was 2-for-2 with a double, a run batted in and two runs scored.  Garrett Roberts (6IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, 7K) was the winning pitcher.
