Fosston defeated Hawley in a non-conference boys’ basketball matchup on Tuesday night.  The Greyhounds had three players in double figures as they recorded a hard fought 62-59 win over the Nuggets.

“I’m happy with our performance tonight,” stated Hawley Head Coach Nathan Stoa. “We grew throughout this game.  They shoot the ball incredibly well. Tonight they started the game on fire.  We did a good job weathering the first storm and had a lead at the half.  Our defense was as good as it’s been to finish the first half which propelled our offense.  The second half came down to who made shots and who didn’t.  We went cold to start the half and they shot their way back in.  We continued to put pressure on them but they made enough free throws to put us away.”

Hawley was led by 24 points from Sam Senske and 10 from Noah NelsonBrevin Stoa and Derek Tibbets finished with 8 points each.

Fosston was led by Cullen Norland with 21, Aaron Norland with 15 and Darren Skala with 10.  Carsen Boushee chipped in with 9 points.

Hawley (14-9, 7-5 HOL) will end their regular season schedule with a road game against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Thursday night.
