The Battle Lake girls’ basketball team host Ashby on Friday night in the final regular season game of the year for both teams. The Battlers came out on top in their Little Eight Conference matchup, winning 66-29 after leading 31-28 at the half.
“We got off to a slow start, but made a nice run to end the first half,” said Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso. “To start the second half we played some solid defense and extended the lead and went on to win.”
Morgan Malone led all scorers with 14 points. Sophie Akerman added 13 and two players, Madi Cameron and Kenady Cameron each had 10 points.
Battle Lake (5-21, 3-14 LEC) and Ashby (1-23, 0-16 LEC) will open Section 6A Tournament play on Monday night with opponents to be decided by seeding on Saturday.
