The Underwood girls’ basketball team led Henning 21-16 at halftime and went on to record a 44-41 victory over the Hornets on Tuesday night in Henning.  “This was a huge game for our girls with playoffs a week away,” commented Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “It was a playoff type atmosphere and the girls responded.  It by no means was always pretty, but we found a way to win.”

The Rockets were led by Kallyn Grove (15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Liz Lukken (10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists).  Mia Blaskowski added 8 points and 7 rebounds, and Zoey Swanson had 7 points and 6 boards.

“Zoey and Mo Bugbee had really nice games defensively,” noted Coach Hovland.  “When the ball doesn’t fall like it did tonight that was the difference in the game.  Kallyn hit some big shots for us tonight and her defensive presence in the late was huge.”

Underwood (22-3, 16-1 LEC) will host Breckenridge on Thursday.  The win was their thirteenth in a row.

Henning (23-2, 14-0 PRC) will play at Parkers Prairie on Thursday.  The loss ended a 23 game winning streak for the Hornets.
