The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team held a 31-5 shot advantage on Tuesday as the top-seeded Otters cruised past Breckenridge/Wahpeton 9-0 in a Section 6A semifinal contest at the Community Arena in Fergus Falls.

Maddie Hulter scored the first goal of the night at 9:30 of the opening period with an assist from Maddie Brimhall.  Eleven seconds later Hannah Johnson scored from Hulter and Ella Starzl to make the score 2-0.  The Otters increased their lead to 3-0 when Tyra Skjeret scored with 5:57 left in the opening period.  Assists went to Avery Tonneson and Skye Norgren.

The final two goals came in the third period with Isabel Kloster assisting on the first goal, scored by Aubree Nelson, and Greenagel scoring an unassisted goal to close it out.

“The senior leadership throughout this season has been our strength in ways much more than on the ice,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “I am extremely proud of the effort put forward tonight and the entire season.”

River Lakes defeated Willmar 2-1 in the other semifinal matchup and will now face the Otters at 7:00pm Thursday in Alexandria for the Section 6A championship.
