Jayna Benson turned in a solid all-around performance on Friday night, leading the St. Cloud Crush to a 79-65 girls’ basketball victory over the Fergus Falls Otters.  Benson scored 22 points, dished out 5 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds to lead the home team.  St. Cloud led 45-22 at the half.  Fergus Falls had 43 second half points to 34 for St. Cloud.  The Otters made 12 3’s in the game, 9 of them coming after halftime.

Brynn Sternberg had a game high 27 points, making four 3’s on the night.  She also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  Cyntreya Lockett registered her second double double in as many games with 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Karley Braeger scored 9 points on 3 3’s and Bella Anderson secured 6 rebounds in the game.

“St. Cloud was hitting everything in the first half as they built a big lead, making 7-of-12 three-pointers.  We weren’t covering shooters and we turned the ball over way too much,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer.  “In the second half we came out and increased our defensive intensity as we played man-to-man and we won the half.  It was a tale of two halves.”

Fergus Falls (6-15) will travel to Brainerd for a Central Lakes Conference game on Tuesday and will host Willmar on Thursday and Perham on Saturday.
