Wadena-Deer Creek and Pillager battled through an overtime contest on Friday night with the lady Wolverines pulling out a 62-59 victory.  Maddie Carsten scored 13 of her 14 points in the first half and Montana Carsten hit 3 3’s for all 9 of her points in the first half as Wadena-Deer Creek took a 30-24 lead at the break.

Addison Gravelle led the Wolverines in scoring with 17 points, 1e of them coming in the second half and overtime.  Payton Gravelle added 16 with 6 of them coming in the overtime period.

“Great back and forth battle with Pillager tonight,” said WDC Head Coach Jordan Cresap. “Built a nice lead into halftime led by sharp shooting from the Carsten sisters. Second half Pillager took them away and the Gravelle sisters stepped up and led the way. We also had great contributions from Ally Pavek and Jada Dykhoff. Big time stops forced overtime and once again the Gravelle sisters hit some timely shots to get the lead back. Exciting finish as Payton Gravelle gets an offensive rebound put-back to go ahead with 0.1 left. Great game by both teams.”

Leaders for Pillager were Grace Grimsley with 25 and Juliana Ewald with 16.

Wadena-Deer Creek (14-9) has won four straight games.  They will play at Menahga on Tuesday and will host Sebeka next Friday.

Pillager (7-12) has lost six in a row.  They will play at Sebeka on Tuesday and at Bertha-Hewitt on Thursday.
