Madison Carsten reached 1000 career points as Wadena-Deer Creek defeated Parkers Prairie, 62-53 on Thursday night.  “To reach this milestone after missing two years from a couple of devastating injuries is incredible,” said Head Coach Jordan Cresap.  “Her work ethic, drive, and perseverance is unmatched.  Such a special accomplishment for a special kid.”

Carsten made all 11 of her free throw attempts and added a pair of 3 point field goals as she led the Wolverines with 29 points.  Montana Carsten added 11.

Ellie Koep and Cora Johnson led Parkers Prairie with 15 and 14 points, respectively.  Abbigail Ruckern chipped in with 12 points.

“A good battle tonight against the Panthers,” noted Cresap.  “Slow first half for us, but give them credit as they really came to play and challenged us in many ways.  We cut into the second half deficit by way of some key outside shots from various players.  Parkers made a furious run down the stretch, but we answered with some clutch free throw shooting.”

Wadena-Deer Creek (13-9) will host Pillager on Friday night.

Parkers Prairie (8-13) is off until Tuesday when they will host the Rothsay Tigers.
