Otters Come Back from 3 Goal Deficit to Tie River Lakes

Fergus Falls battled back from a 4-1 deficit after two period of play to score three times in the third period and ending up in a 4-4 tie with River Lakes on Tuesday night in Richmond.  The Stars outshot the Otters 32-25 on the night.

River Lakes got on the board first when Jacob Philippi found the back of the net off an assist from Cole Pientka at 1:24 of the second period.  At 6:11 Anthony Fink made it 2-0 with an assist from Matthew Dotzler.  21 seconds later Brayden Nelson scored the Otters first goal of the night with assists from linemates Kellen Stenstrom and Shane ZierdenBradley Blaschko’s goal at 13:39 was setup by Philippi and Blake Schultz, giving the home team a 3-1 lead.  Philippi made it 4-1 with his second goal of the game at 13:50.  Blaschko and Jace Griffin assisted on the goal.

The Otters third period scoring barrage started at 10:51 when Zierden scored from Leighton Buckmeier.  At 14:28 the Otters cut the lead to 4-3 on a Leighton Buckmeier power play goal, assisted by Zierden and Stenstrom.  The game tying goal came at 16:40 when Shane Zierden scored from Stenstrom and Michael Schmidt.

Fergus Falls (12-7-2) will host Alexandria on Thursday night.
