The Perham girls’ basketball team defeated DGF 60-36 on Monday night in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference contest in Glyndon.  The Yellowjackets turned in a stellar defensive performance, Mya Morris established a season record for made 3’s and Willow Thiel was dominant in the paint.

“Since Christmas, DGF hasn’t let anyone score more than 49, and that was us in early January,” noted Perham Head Coach TJ Super. “Their defense has been dialed in, but we came in firing on all cylinders. Mya Morris hit five early threes to give us a lead that we would never give up. With her fourth three she became the season record holder for threes made in a season. Mya passed Sydney Anderson’s record of 80 that she set last year. Katie Johnson set the new mark the year before that!  After the early threes, it was Willow taking over inside. The girls did a great job of finding Willow and delivering crisp passes to put her in position to score. DGF hung around in the early second half but one final run by Perham put the game away.”

Thiel led the way with 22 points and 6 rebounds, while Morris finished with 20 points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds.  Ryleigh Mickelson had a team high 7 rebounds and 5 steals.

Peyton Backes and Kaleigh Peterson led DGF with 8 and 7 points, respectively.

Perham (19-2, 10-0 HOL) will play in Breckenridge on Friday night.

DGF (8-11, 2-9 HOL) will host Crookston on Tuesday and travel to face Lake Park-Audubon on Friday.
