Wadena-Deer Creek made 6 of their 8 3-point field goals in the first half as they built a 38-27 halftime lead over Bertha-Hewitt.  The Bears were held to just 11 second half points as the Wolverines registered a 69-38 victory.

“Good effort tonight against a physical Bertha-Hewitt team,” said Head Coach Jordan Cresap of Wadena-Deer Creek. “They always challenge you on the boards and I thought we did a pretty good job boxing out and pursuing rebounds. Jada Dykhoff was a huge spark for us tonight with 18 off the bench. On to LPGE tomorrow!”

Maddie Carsten had 14 of her game high 19 points in the first half and Jada Dykhoff scored 13 of her 18 points in the first 18 minutes of play.  Payton Gravelle added 13 points and Addison Gravelle finished with 9 points.

Ava Bauch led the Bears with 10 points, including a pair of 3’s.

Wadena-Deer Creek (10-9) has a road game against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Tuesday and home games against Parkers Prairie on Thursday and Pillager on Friday.

Bertha-Hewitt (6-13) will play at Sebeka on Tuesday and at Verndale on Thursday.
