Sheriff Scores 28 to Lead Spartan Men to Victory at Riverland

The M State Men’s Basketball team came back from a 41-31 halftime deficit to defeat Riverland Community College 78-66 on Saturday in Austin.  The Spartans put 47 second half points on the board, while holding the Blue Devils to just 25.  M State hit 49% (30-61) of their field goal attempts and 12-of-15 (80%) free throws).

Four players reached double figures for M State, led by 28 from Foday Sheriff and 18 from Noel KabangaMikele Kambalo had a dozen and Akok Aguer finished with 10.  Kabanga had a team high 9 rebounds.  Sheriff and Aguer each had 8 boards.  Kambalo came up with 4 steals and Aguer was the assist leader with 3.

M State is 12-10 overall and 4-4 in the MCAC South.  The Spartans will host Minnesota West at 7:30pm Wednesday.
