The Hawley Nuggets placed four players in double figures on Friday night as they recorded a Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys’ basketball win over Breckenridge, beating the Cowboys by the score of 75-57.

Sam Senske led the Nuggets with 22 points and Mason Gratton had 14.  Brevin Stoa and Landon Bakke had 13 points apiece.

The Cowboys were led by Alex Sanchez with 16 and Daymon Smith with 9.  Landon Blaufuss chipped in with 7 points and a team high 9 rebounds.

The first half was back and forth. After being down 17-5 to start the game the Cowboys battled back and tied it at 25. The last 4 minutes of the half the Nuggets went on a run and ended the half up 41-30.

“In the second half we couldn’t get back into it and wound up with the loss,” said Head Coach Jordan Christensen of the Cowboys. “Dylan Bernotas, Beau Beyer, and Kaleb Albertson all hit their first three pointers of the year. Alex Sanchez did a good job of playing under control and drawing fouls for 16 points.”

Hawley (9-6, 4-3 HOL) will play at Lake Park-Audubon on Tuesday night.

Breckenridge (2-14, 1-7 HOL) plays host to Hillcrest on Tuesday in a non-conference game and then is back in HOL play Thursday at home against Barnesville.
