The Perham girls' basketball team posted a 67-48 Heart O' Lakes Conference win over Pelican Rapids on Thursday night at 'The Hive' in Perham.  The Yellowjackets led 37-22 at the half.

“It was a fun night of basketball in the Hive as we celebrated Junior Jacket night,” reported Perham Head Coach TJ Super. “Every girl in the Perham Girls Basketball program was invited to come take their picture with the varsity girls, get a prize, join in on the national anthem and starting lineups, and take a program picture. Overall, there were over 100 girls in the picture and more running around! Everyone was invited to grab a free poster and get it autographed after the game.  And there was a basketball game played, too!”

Willow Thiel poured in a game high 27 points and finished off a double-double by grabbing 14 rebounds.  Mya Morris hit 5-of-10 3’s and had 17 points.  Olivia Rosenthal dished out a team high 5 assists.

“We played well on both ends of the court, really working hard on defense and making it tough for Pelican to get any open shots,” added Coach Super. “On offense, we really moved the ball well, working it both inside and outside. The guards took turns making shots and then utilized Willow inside. The second half was more of the same. It was a great game, I'm really proud of the girls.”

Leaders for Pelican Rapids were Morgan Korf (15 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals), Hazel Haugrud (10 points, 2 steals) and Anna Rosium (8 rebounds).

Pelican Rapids (15-4, 7-2 HOL) will travel to Wheaton to face the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors on Saturday afternoon.

Perham (18-1, 9-0 HOL) has won eleven straight games.  They will play at Pequot Lakes on Friday before going to Glyndon to face DGF on Monday night.
