Five Different Girls Score Goals for Otters in 5-0 Shutout of Willmar

Five different girls scored goals and seven different girls earned assists as the Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team blanked Willmar 5-0 on Tuesday night at the Community Ice Arena.  The Otters outshot the Cardinals 31-10 with Lexi Metcalf getting the win in the Fergus Falls net.

Hannah Johnson notched the first goal of the game at 2:52 of the opening period when she cashed in on the power play with assists from Maddie Hulter and Tyra SkjeretSkye Norgren added a goal at 16:14, assisted by Rylynn Krein and Vanessa Vaughn, giving Fergus Falls a 2-0 lead after one period of play.

In the second period, Rachel Debrito scored from Skjeret to make it 3-0.  Maddie Brimhall’s goal later in the period increased the Fergus Falls lead to 4-0.  Johnson and Maggie Greenagel assisted on the goal.

The final goal of the game came at 2:39 of the third period when Hulter found the back of the net with an assist from Norgren.

Fergus Falls (19-4-1) is on a twelve game unbeaten streak.  They will close out their regular season with a home game against River Lakes on Thursday.
