Sartell-St. Stephen went on a 12-2 run late in the first half to take a 27-16 lead into the locker room at halftime against the Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team.  The Sabres went on to record a 62-38 win over the Otters in their Central Lakes Conference contest.

Avery Templin (18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) and Chloe Turner (16 points) led the Sabres.

Fergus Falls was led by Brynn Sternberg with 11 points and 2 assists, and Karley Braeger with 10 points. Julia Hajicek finished with 8 points.  Karyssa Eberle and Belle Anderson had 6 rebounds each.  Anderson also had 2 assists.  The Otters were 12-for-43 (28%) from the field and made only 4-of-22 (18%) 3-pointers.

"We played pretty well in the first half until the last couple of minutes when we allowed them some transition buckets and they were able to build an 11 point lead," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer.  "We came out flat in the second half and our shots just aren't falling right now.  We were without Cyntreya Lockett due to an illness and she is such a difference maker on both ends of the floor.  They threw some 1-3-1 at us and some trapping defenses, but I thought we handled it pretty well.  They are long and athletic and they are one of the top teams in the conference for a reason."

Fergus Falls (5-11) will play at Rocori next Thursday and Detroit Lakes on Friday.
