Willow Thiel scored 23 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the Perham girls’ basketball team to a 57-38 win over Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday night. Mya Morris added 14 points, hitting 4-of-6 from three-point range, while adding a team high 4 steals.
“I felt like we played pretty well the whole game,” commented Perham Head Coach TJ Super. “We just continually built a lead, working the ball inside a bunch and making enough outside shots to keep the WDC defense honest. Willow was a beast all night, but had a double-double by halftime, with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The second half was more of the same with a lot of bench contributions, too.”
Olivia Pilgrim (7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists), Kaia Anderson (7 points), Olivia Rosenthal (5 assists, 3 rebounds) and Ryleigh Mickelson (5 rebounds) also contributed.
Wadena-Deer Creek was led by Payton Gravelle with 16 points and Madison Carsten with 14.
Perham (16-1) ran their winning streak to 9 games and is unbeaten (8-0) in Heart O’ Lakes Conference play. They will host East Grand Forks on Tuesday night.
Wadena-Deer Creek (9-6, 5-2 PRC) will host New York Mills in a Park Region Conference game on Friday night.
