The Pelican Rapids girls’ basketball team was a 38-35 winner in a defensive battle with Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday night.  The Wolverines led 20-14 at the half.  The Vikings turned the tables on WDC in the second half, outscoring them 24-15 to claim the victory.

Morgan Korf led the Vikings with 13 points.  Kelsey Isaman was also in double digits with 10 and Ellie Welch contributed 9 points.  Isaman had a team high 9 rebounds and Korf added 6 rebounds and 3 steals, while Welch dished out 4 assists.

Wadena-Deer Creek was led by 12 points from Montana Carsten.

“Tough battle tonight in Pelican Rapids,” said Wadena-Deer Creek Head Coach Jordan Cresap. “Thought we did a lot of good things throughout the game, just didn’t make the big plays down the stretch. Competed tough defensively. Good thing to take from this one is we showed we can hang with the best of the best in section 8AA.”

Pelican Rapids (13-3, 6-1 HOL) will host DGF on Friday night.

Wadena-Deer Creek (8-5) will host Perham on Thursday and New York Mills on Friday.
