Nuggets Overcome Double Digit Deficit to Beat Otters by 4

Anna Steer (19) and Izzy Steer (14) combined for 33 points on Thursday night to lead the Hawley Nuggets past their uncle, Josh Steer’s team, the Fergus Falls Otters, by the score of 53-49.

Fergus Falls scored the first seven points in the game, led 26-11 in the first half and   held a 30-23 halftime advantage.  Hawley went on a 17-2 run to start the second half as the Nuggets took a 40-32 lead, however, Fergus Falls returned the favor by going on a 17-9 run and pulling the Otters even with the Nuggets at 49-49.  Hawley scored the final four points to secure the win.

Karley Braeger led Fergus Falls with 12 points and Cyntreya Lockett finished with 11.  Brynn Sternberg and Bella Anderson finished with 9 and 8 points, respectively.

Hawley (9-5) is at Breckenridge on Tuesday and at Frazee on Friday.

Fergus Falls (5-8) has a pair of road games next week, going to Moorhead on Tuesday and traveling to Albany on Thursday.
