The M State lady Spartans earned their first MCAC Southern Division win on Wednesday night when they had one of their better shooting nights of the season in a 73-68 win over St. Cloud. The Spartans shot 44.4% (28-63) from the field and made 38% (8-21) of their 3-point attempts. They also had assists on 20 of their 28 made baskets.
Emily Dehler notched another double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. She also had a team high 5 assists and 2 steals. Lindsey Kurz finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Itzel Salazar (13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists) and Keely Foley (13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals) were also in double figures.
The game was tied 13 times and the lead changed hands 15 times.
St. Cloud shot 35% (23-66) from the field and made 38% (11-29) of their 3's. They were led by Demya Riley (18 points, 2 steals), Allison Fritz (15 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals), Rylie DeMaine (11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals) and Sarah Harris (11 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals).
M State (9-9, 1-4 MCAC South) will play at Rochester on Saturday afternoon.
