Mya Morris went 6-for-6 from 3-point range, scoring 18 points to lead the Perham girls’ basketball team to a 73-41 victory over Fergus Falls on Saturday at the Breakdown Crossover Classic at ‘The Hive’ in Perham.

“Law of averages,” said Perham Head Coach TJ Super.  “After shooting dismally in the second half on Friday night, I told the girls that the law of averages will work its way out.  If we continued to run great offense and get great shots, then we’d knock them down.”

Super was right as his team hit 14-of-26 from 3-point range with six different players connecting from beyond the arc.  The Yellowjackets also had just 9 turnovers while dishing out 19 assists in the game.

“We ran great offense, but most importantly we played great defense,” noted Super.  “Our intensity was very good and this was the best rebounding game we have had.  Our girls boxed out so well and controlled the glass.

Kaia Anderson scored 13, Cora Grismer added 10, Kennedy Pilgrim contributed 9 and Olivia Pilgrim chipped in with 8 for the Yellowjackets.  Cate Diggins had a team high 7 rebounds and Kennedy Pilgrim dished out 4 assists.

Brynn Sternberg was the leading scorer for the Otters with 17 points and Cyntreya Lockett registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Fergus Falls shot just 32.5% from the field and made only 23% of their 3-point shots.

“We took better care of the basketball, with only 14 turnovers tonight,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer.  “We rebounded well, when they did miss shots, which wasn’t too often as they shot the lights out.  Morris got hot early and their offense proved to be way too much for us on this night.”

Fergus Falls (5-7) has a non-conference game at Hawley on Thursday.

Perham (12-1) has now won five straight games.  They will host Brainerd on Tuesday and play at Barnesville on Thursday.
