Fronning and Widness Win Titles as Otters Place 4th at Lake Park-Audubon
Caleb Fronning (132) and Jacob Widness (170) won their weight classes and Fergus Falls placed fourth out of nine teams at the 45th Annual Terry Teiken Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday at Lake Park-Audubon High School. The Otters had 141.05 points.
Fronning’s title was his second career Terry Teiken Tournament championship and he won his 50th career match with his victory in the finals.
Darlys Hess received the Dean Fox Sportsmanship Award for 64 years of love and support for the sport of wrestling.
“The sport of wrestling, and everyone involved with it, is honored to recognize Darlys Hess as the 2023 Dean Fox Sportsmanship Award winner,” noted Fergus Falls Head Coach Adam Schlepp. “She has served in almost every role imaginable, from coach’s wife to grandmother of statisticians. Her dedication to supporting those involved with wrestling over the las 64 years is admirable.”

Pequot Lakes-Pine River-Backus won the tournament with a score of 284.52 and DGF was second with 191.03. Osakis took third with 150.04, followed by Fergus Falls, Pelican Rapids (113.06), United Clay Becker (104.57), Grand Forks Central (77.08), Fertile-Beltrami (63.09) and Mahnomen-Waubun (11).
