Brainerd/Little Falls Scores Two Third Period Goals to Forge Tie with Otter Girls

The Brainerd/Little Falls girls’ hockey team rallied from a 2-0 deficit with a pair of third period goals to finish in a 2-2 overtime tie with Fergus Falls on Friday night at the Community Arena.  The tie stopped an 8 game Otter winning streak but extends their unbeaten streak to 9 games.

The Otters got on the board with a power play goal by Tyra Skjeret at 15:23 of the first period.  Assists went to Lydia Johnson and Hannah Johnson.

Skjeret tallied a second power play goal at 1:13 of the second period with Maddie Hulter and Hannah Johnson earning assists.  The second period ended with the Otters leading 2-0.

Lucy Peterson got Brainerd/Little Falls on the board at 2:28 of the third period with assists from Mercedes Engstrom and Peyton LeMieur.  A power play goal by Molly Hagelie brought the Flying Warriors even at 15:28.  Assists went to Hagelie and Lucy Peterson.

Lexi Metcalf stopped 29 shots on goal and the Otters put 15 shots on the Brainerd/Little Falls net.

“Lots of penalties tonight,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “This game taught us so much, regardless of the outcome.  We never backed down and that can carry us moving forward.”

Fergus Falls (16-4-1) will host East Grand Forks on Friday night.
