Alexandria placed all five of their starters in double digits on Thursday night as they defeated Fergus Falls 81-46 in a Central Lakes Conference girls’ basketball matchup.  The Otters struggled to take care of the ball as they turned it over 30 times. The Cardinals took very good care of the ball, committing only 11 turnovers on the night.

The Cardinals built a 44-26 halftime lead and outscored the Otters 37-20 over the final 18 minutes.  They were led by 16 points from senior Morgan Seesz and 14 from sophomore post player, Hadley Thul.  Sophomores Chloe Scholl and Macee Linow contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively, and sophomore Allie Haabala chipped in with 10. Alexandria had 10 made 3’s in the game.

Brynn Sternberg led the Otters with 18 points and Cyntreya Lockett was in double figures with 10.  Lockett had a team high 5 rebounds.  Karley Braeger added 7 points and 4 boards.

"I thought we came out and competed hard," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer.  "Alexandria shot the lights out and we gave them too many second chance points.  Their pressure caused us some problems at times that made it hard to transition our defense.  There is a reason they are a top AAA team and they showed it tonight!"

Fergus Falls (5-6) is at Perham on Saturday night.

Alexandria (9-3, 6-0 CLC) will host Detroit Lakes on Tuesday.
