The Otter girls’ hockey team put 43 shots on goal Tuesday night in a 3-1 win over St. Cloud at the Community Arena in Fergus Falls.  Lexi Metcalf stopped 17 of the 18 shots she faced in the Otter net and Abby Stevens made 40 saves, including 19 in the third period, for St. Cloud.

Tyra Skjeret started the scoring with a goal at 15:00 of the first period, assisted by Hannah Johnson.

In the second period, Averie Tonneson made it 2-0 with an assist from Maddie Brimhall at 5:56.  The final goal of the game for the Otters came at 12:22 when Rachel DeBrito scored from Brimhall and Maggie Greenagel.

St. Cloud scored at 16:05 of the second with Molly Burkstrand scoring off an assist from Ava Schmidt.

“We didn’t move the puck very clean tonight, but gritted out the win,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “We’re going to have those nights as a pretty young team.  Metcalf made some timely saves to keep St. Cloud from gaining momentum.”

Fergus Falls (15-4) will take a seven game winning streak to Willmar on Thursday, before returning home to host Brainerd-Little Falls on Friday.
