Emily Dehler, who was named Player of the Week last week, led M State with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Lindsey Kurz also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Itzel Salazar dished out 5 assists. Hailey Nelson and Kiera Cox performed well off the bench, contributing 9 and 8 points, respectively. Both players had 4 rebounds, Cox dished off 3 assists and Nelson came up with 3 steals.
The Spartans won the rebounding battle, 47-37, but shot just 31.6% (24-76) from the field, making only 2-of-13 (15.4%) of their 3-point shots. M State was perfect (10-10) from the free throw line. Western Tech connected on 40.7% (11-27) of their treys and shot 35.5% for the game.
Leaders for Western Tech were Bri Bahr (26 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), Becca Rostad (19 points, 4 rebounds), Kaylee Skibba (17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals) and Emma Geiwitz (5 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks).
M State (8-7, 0-2 MCAC South) will travel to Worthington to face Minnesota West on Wednesday before coming home to host their MCAC Southern Division home opener against Riverland on Saturday.
