The Perham girls’ basketball team improved their season record to 9-1 with a 49-41 victory over Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Thursday night.  The Yellowjackets led 28-21 at the half.  Mya Morris led them with 12 points and 5 rebounds.  Willow Thiel had a team high 10 rebounds and added 7 points.  Cora Grismer and Olivia Pilgrim chipped in with 7 points apiece.

“We took a while to get going, but once we did we looked pretty good in the first half,” said Perham Head Coach TJ Super.  “Our ball movement was nice and we threw a couple extra passes for wide open three’s.  I have to give DGF credit.  All season long they’ve hung around and played everybody tight, and when it felt like we were right on the edge of blowing them out, they would make a couple of plays.  Coach Sunde has his team playing hard!  At one point in the second half we missed 4 lay-ups in a row and didn’t shoot well from the outside.  It’s one of those games you mark down in the win column and move on.”

Peyton Backes scored 11 points to lead the Rebels, while Aria Garrett and Gabbee Tucker finished with 9 and 8 points, respectively.

“Mya had some nice assists to start the game and get us going,” said Coach Super.  “Willow had some great assists at the end of the game to put it away.”

Perham will host Breckenridge on Tuesday night, while DGF (3-6) plays at Hawley.
