Barnesville got things going early on Thursday night and never let up as they jumped out to a 47-15 halftime lead over Park Rapids Area and went on to post an 80-42 victory over the Panthers.  The Trojans hit 53% (35-65) of their shots and assisted on 24 of their 35 made baskets.

“We played well tonight,” said Barnesville Head Coach Matt Askegaard. “It was nice to get another game in after missing Tuesday's because of Mother Nature. I thought to start we could have gotten after them a little on the defensive end a little more and forced the issue, but the boys have had a week off and in their defense that's kind of expected. One goes for 3-4 straight practices competing against the same guys and it gets a little exhausting, so it was good to compete again.”

Tate Inniger had a big night for Barnesville, scoring 23 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists and coming up with a steal.  Zach Bredman scored 10 points and distributed 4 assists, Carson Hagen added 9 points, Isaac Maneval had 8, Gannon Bolgrean scored 8 points and recorded 4 assists, while coming up with a team high 6 steals.

“Offensively, we moved and pushed the ball very well,” noted Askegaard. “We were very unselfish in the first 8-10 minutes of the game both in the full and half court. Player that really sticks out for me is Tate Inniger. His size and athleticism make him so hard to defend. He can handle the ball in the full court and is smooth around the basket. His quickness allows him to cut and get to the rim. I felt we had a span of 4-5 minutes where we forced a few shots, but that will happen when everyone is out there having fun and wanting to get in on it.”

The Trojans host Hawley tomorrow night which should be an exciting game. “Nothing better than that kind of HOL matchup on a Friday night,” concluded Coach Askegaard.
