Willow Thiel poured in 30 points to lead the Perham girls’ basketball team to a 65-45 win over the Crookston Pirates on Tuesday night at ‘The Hive’.  Mya Morris added 15 on five 3-point field goals as the Yellowjackets improved their season record to 8-1.

“It was a good game, although we were quite sluggish to start and our defensive intensity dropped a bit in the second half,” commented Perham Head Coach TJ Super.  “Overall, it was a good win against one of the best teams in the north half of the section.”

Thiel completed a double-double by corralling 11 rebounds. “She did a really good job splitting the double team all night,” noted Coach Super. “Kennedy Pilgrim added to our rebounding total with7 boards, an area that we beat up on the Pirates. Olivia Rosenthal and Cora Grismer did a great job trying to contain Halle Winjum, holding her to 6 in the first half and making Winjum work hard for all her 23 points. A couple of girls played well off the bench giving us good minutes. Ryleigh Mickelson and Lily Aakre came in and played great defense and made some nice plays on offense.”

Perham will host DGF in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference contest on Thursday night.
