Rothsay made the road trip to Staples on Tuesday night for a high school girls’ basketball battle with the Staples-Motley Cardinals. The Tigers built a 32-17 lead at the half and maintained it the rest of the night, going back home with an impressive 56-40 win.
“This was a nice road win for us against a good Staples-Motley team,” acknowledged Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier. “Rebounding was definitely a key for us tonight as we didn’t shoot well, but got several second chance opportunities with 15 offensive rebounds.”
Madison Tillman registered a double-double (12 points, 13 rebounds) and Kenadi Carlsud had a team high 21 points, while grabbing 9 rebounds. Savannah Sullivan was also in double digits with 14 points. Sullivan corralled 5 rebounds in the game.
Rothsay (6-3) will face big challenge on Friday night when they entertain defending Class A State Champion, Hancock (4-2), in a Little Eight Conference matchup at the Bill Rose Gymnasium.
