Both teams shot poorly on Saturday afternoon as the M State lady Spartans posted a 46-22 win over Sisseton-Wahpeton in the Spartan Classic. M State shot 36% (20-74) from the field and Sisseton-Wahpeton made only 13% (7-49) of their shots. The two teams were a combined 1-30 from beyond the arc.
Emily Dehler registered a double-double with 18 points and 18 rebounds. She also had 5 steals. Lindsey Kurz scored 10 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Keely Foley had 9 points and 9 boards and Kiera Cox added 6 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. Ashley Dreger added 9 rebounds as M State dominated the boards 62-43, including 31 offensive rebounds, 13 from Dehler.
Sisseton-Wahpeton was led by Madison Wells with 10 points and Alex Guevara with 11 rebounds.
M State led 10-1 after the first period and had an 18-7 halftime lead. The Spartans are now 8-5 and will open MCAC Southern Division play against Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday in Coon Rapids.
