Triple Double by Cox Leads Lady Spartans to Victory

The M State lady Spartans came off their Christmas break with a dominant performance in their first game of the Spartan Classic, beating Minnesota North College-Itasca by the score of 69-30.  M State shot 48.3% (28-58) from the field and had 23 assists on their 28 made baskets.

Kiera Cox recorded a rare triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.  She also had 4 steals.  Emily Dehler (14 points, 10 rebounds) registered a double-double and added 4 steals and 4 assists.  Lindsey Kurz came off the bench to lead the lady Spartans with 16 points.  Keely Foley and Ashley Dreger were also in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Brooke Meyer led Itasca with 13 points and 14 rebounds, 6 of which came on the offensive end.  The Vikings shot just 21.7% (13-60) from the field.

M State improved to 6-5 with the win.  They will face Sisseton-Wahpeton at 3:00pm Saturday.
