Lake Park-Audubon raced out to a 27-7 halftime lead over Battle Lake on Thursday as the Raiders went on to claim third place in the Valhalla Division of the Minnesota National Bank Holiday Basketball Classic in Pelican Rapids.  The final score was 45-30 in favor of LPA.

“Their aggressive defense really made it tough to score,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “They also shot the ball really well in the first half to build their halftime lead.  In the second half we did a better job of slowing them down and started to see some shots fall in our basket.  At one point midway through the period we had the margin down to 7, but some timely baskets on their part created a separation that we couldn’t overcome.”

Sophie Akerman led Battle with Lake with 12 points and Morgan Malone added 9.

The Raiders received a game high 15 points from Myah Rosing.

Battle Lake (0-8) resumes play at Wheaton on Friday night, January 6.
