Border West Suffers First Two Losses at Perham Tournament

Border West (3-2) saw their 3 game winning streak to start the season come to a close with a pair of losses in the Perham Holiday Basketball Tournament.

 

Sauk Centre made 58% (28-48) of their field goal attempts, hitting 71% (17-24) of their two point field goals, as they recorded a 78-61 win over Border West on Wednesday.  The Buccaneers shot 37% (23-62) in the game.

Border West was led by Clint Determan (24 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists), Dylan Bainbridge (15 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds) and Cole Gilsdorf (10 points, 2 assists).

On Thursday, the Buccaneers came up on the short end of a 79-71 score against the Paynesville Bulldogs in their second game of the Perham Boys Basketball Tournament.   Paynesville shot 47% (30-64) from the field, hitting 65% of their 2-point field goal attempts.  Border West shot 41% (27-66) for the game.  The Bulldogs held a 42-36 edge on the boards.

Leaders for Border West were Andrew Walker (18 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists), Clint Determan (16 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists), Grant Dawson (12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals) and Holden Rinke (10 points, 3 rebounds).  Dylan Bainbridge dished out 7 assists and added 8 points.

The Buccaneers will resume play with a home game against Ashby on Thursday, January 5.
