Fergus Falls hosted Brainerd in a Central Lakes Conference girls' basketball game on Tuesday night and the two teams engaged in a back-and-forth defensive battle with the Warriors ending up on top, 43-38.

Fergus Falls scored on a 3-point field goal to start the game, but Brainerd then rattled off 11 of the next 12 points to take an 11-4 lead.  The Otters fought back to even the score at 11-11 and the two teams were never separated by more than 7 points all night long.

The Otters held a 39-32 lead with six minutes left in the game, however, Brainerd went on an 11-4 run to close out the game and the win.

Cyntreya Lockett had 17 points to lead the Otters, scoring 10 points in the second half and hitting 7 of 9 free throws.  Brynn Sternberg and Karley Braeger added 7 and 6 points, respectively.

"Overall, I thought we played very well defensively, but we did not shoot the ball well enough," stated Head Coach Josh Steer of the Otters.  "It's hard to win games when you only score 38 points.  Brainerd played well defensively and they are a physical team."

Fergus Falls hit just 17% of their 3's and made 40% of their field goals on the night.  They held a slim 29-25 edge on the boards.

The Otters (3-2) will host their Holiday Tournament next Wednesday and Thursday.
