Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton got a late start to their boys’ basketball season after playing in the Prep Bowl for the Class AAA football championship.  The Rebels finally played their first game of the season on Tuesday night and they made the most of it, handing previously undefeated Pelican Rapids a 66-64 loss.

Owen Leach scored a game high 22 points to lead DGF.  Karson Steichen and Grant Anderson were also in double digits with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Ian Fahje scored 21 points to lead Pelican Rapids.  Charlie Larson had 12 points and two players, Tanner Tollerud and Brady Petznick added 11 points apiece.

“We dug ourselves a hole in the first half as DGF came out and shot the ball really well,” said Head Coach John Gullingsrud of the Vikings. “We were still down double digits with under ten minutes left in the game when we finally got a little momentum to get back in it. We had the chance to win it or force overtime in the last possession but couldn’t get a shot off. But, it was very encouraging to see the fight our guys had to battle back in the second half.”

DGF will participate in the Moorhead Holiday Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Pelican Rapids (5-1) will host Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday night.
