The Hawley boys’ basketball team handled Crookston on Monday night, recording an 84-49 road win over the Pirates as they improved their season record to 3-0.

“Tonight, was an up and down first half for our guys,” commented Head Coach Nathan Stoa. “We were not connected on defense enough in the first half and lost shooters. Our guys corrected things in the second half and held them to five total field goals.  I’m happy with their ability to adjust and get themselves locked backed in.  Going forward we cannot afford lulls in communication. Great game from sophomore Noah Nelson. He really provided a spark and gave us a great floor game off of the bench.”

Nelson led the Nuggets with 23 points.  Mason Gratton and Sam Senske had 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Crookston was led by Ryan Abeld with 16 and Tanner Giese with 10.

Hawley has a Heart O’ Lakes Conference contest at Breckenridge on Thursday night.
