M State Men Rally but Come Up Short at Brainerd

The M State Mens’ basketball team rallied from a 37-30 halftime deficit, but their rally fell just short as they lost to Central Lakes College 68-66 on Saturday afternoon in Brainerd.

Yonis Mohamud led M State with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.  Akok Aguer added 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.  Foday Sheriff had a team high 12 rebounds to go along with 7 points and 4 assists.  The Spartans shot 41.3% (26-63) from the field and made 11-of-30 (36.7%) 3-pointers.

The Raiders were led by Anthony Burch (21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal), Michael Scott (13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) and David Felix (11 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist).  TJ Kornbaum had a team high 9 rebounds, while adding 4 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.  Carrson Jones contributed 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  Central Lakes made 37.3% (25-67) of their shots from the floor and 39.3% (11-28) of their 3’s.

M State will return to Brainerd for the CLC Classic next Friday and Saturday.
