With the loss of only one senior to graduation the Fergus Falls boys’ swimming and diving team is poised for a successful winter season.  The team will be led by captains Tyler Kubela, Christian Reed and Micah Zosel.

“We have a great core group returning this year,” stated Head Coach Randy Hansen.  “Tyler, Christian, Micah and Logan Rott swam the 400 free relay at the State Class A meet last year.  They were also key in their individual events during the season.  They will be looked on to lead the team again this year.  Matthew Tuel and Jaden Kwapinski were also medal winners at the section meet and I expect them to be in the mix again this year.”

Hansen also expects Adrian Blondeau, Will Nuss, Jacob Kettner and Will Ness-Ludwig to have breakout seasons.  Freshmen Reece Hansen and Landon Votava will see extended varsity time this season and will provide needed depth in the freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke.

“We were third in the section last season, so we are shooting to be in the top two this year,” added Coach Hansen.  “We have a very large middle school team this season.  It is the largest we have had in several years, which is exciting for the coming years.”

Hansen says Alexandria, Sartell and Brainerd are the top teams in the Central Lakes Conference, while Alexandria and Melrose/Sauk Centre are the teams to beat in Section 5A.

Jason Zosel (Varsity Assistant), Mallory Jarvi (Diving) and Andrew Kowalski (Middle School) will serve as assistant coaches.
