Alexandria goalie Hunter Sellnow was on her game Thursday as the lady Cardinals beat the Willmar Cardinals, 5-1. Sellnow stopped 28 Willmar shots on goal to register the win. Alexandria had 28 shots on goal and started out hot with 3 goals in the opening period.
Sophia Korynta got things started with a goal just 2:35 into the game. Alena Maras and Lauren Maras assisted on the goal. At 13:18 Kylie Lattimer notched a power play goal, assisted by Julia Doherty. Alexandria added another power play goal at 16:04, this one from Tayler Treat. Emma Ramstorf and Lauren Maras earned assists.
A second period goal by Ella Westlund at 6:05 was setup by Lauren Maras, who completed her playmaker with her third assist of the night.
At 1:52 of the third, Ramstorf scored from Ella Westlund for a 5-0 Alexandria lead. Willmar scored a power play goal at 11:56 for their only tally of the game. Chloe Lownsbury got credit for the goal with assists from Sophia Quinn and Makenna Larson.
Alexandria (5-2-1) will play at Gentry Academy at 3:00pm Saturday.
