The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team scored six goals on Thursday night, three of them on pure hat trick by Maddie Hulter in the third period, as the Otters knocked off Sartell/Sauk Rapids by a final score of 6-1.  Fergus Falls had 29 shots on goal and the Stormin’ Sabres had 13.  Lexi Metcalf had 12 saves in the Otter net.

“We didn’t play a perfect game tonight, but the bench energy kept the girls engaged,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “Our top line responded nicely after our Tuesday loss.  We will take the W and move on!”

Avery Tonneson got the Otters on the board in the first period with an assist from Skye Norgren.

Tyra Skjeret notched the second goal of the game with an assist from Hulter and both of them then assisted on a goal by Hannah Johnson as the Otters increased their lead to 3-0 after two periods.

After Sartell/Sauk Rapids got on the board early in the third period on a goal by Jalyssa VanDenBerg, assisted by Tia Vogt, Hulter began her impressive third period with her first goal of the night, setup by Skjeret.  The same combination clicked for her second goal and Johnson joined Skjeret for an assist on Hulter’s third goal.

Fergus Falls (8-3) will host Brainerd/Little Falls on Tuesday night.
