The Rothsay girls’ basketball team has won their first three games of the season with win number three coming at home against Battle Lake on Tuesday night.  The Tigers trailed 22-20 at the half and put together a strong second half to record a 44-38 Little Eight Conference victory over the Battlers.

Savannah Sullivan led Rothsay with 18 points and Kenadi Carlsrud joined her in double digits with 11.  Ellie Meyer chipped in with 7 and Madison Tillman pulled down a team high 10 rebounds to go along with 5 points.

“We didn’t shoot the ball well tonight so we had to depend on our defense to get some big stops,” said Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier. “It was good to see our girls come from behind late in the game to secure a win. We definitely learned a lot about our team tonight as we continue to work hard and improve.”

Leaders for Battle Lake were Kennedy Cameron and Morgan Malone with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

“We fell behind early, but midway through the first half we took a small lead and went into the locker room up two points,” commented Head Coach David Marso of the Battlers.  “In the second half we struggled to score and late in the game Rothsay took the lead and we were unable to get it back.”

Rothsay (3-0) will play at Ashby in a Little Eight Conference game on Friday night.

Battle Lake (0-3) will travel to Parkers Prairie of a LEC contest on Friday.
